Born in Sacramento (California, United States), she studied singing and piano at the Higher Conservatories of the Liceu, in Valencia, and finally at the Municipal Higher Conservatory of Barcelona, where she obtained three Advanced Teaching Degrees: in singing; in solfège, music theory, and accompaniment; and in music pedagogy, all with honors and distinctions. In addition to her musical training, she also holds university degrees in translation and interpretation, philology, and a postgraduate degree in musicology.
She has worked as a voice teacher at the Professional Music Conservatories of Sabadell and Igualada, while also directing her own music production company, MusicaVivit, for over twenty years. She has trained both professional and amateur singers, teaching voice in various Catalan choral organizations. She is a vocal coach and co-director of the Coral Sant Medir in Barcelona and teaches language for singers at the Liceu Conservatory.
She has developed an intense career as a soloist in opera, oratorio, lieder, and early music, performing in venues across the country such as the Auditori de Barcelona, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the Palau de la Música, the Ópera del Gran Teatre La Faràndula de Sabadell, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and in major festivals: the Edinburgh Festival, the Cadaqués Festival, the Torroella de Montgrí Festival, Música als Castells Culturals de Catalunya, Chants Sacrés en Méditerranée, Música de las Religiones del Mundo in Plasencia, the Sacred Music Week of Alicante, Veladas de Arte Sacro in Guadalajara, the Route of Historical Organs of Castilla-La Mancha, Festival Segle Nou, Tarraco Viva, Els Castells de Frontera, Tiana Antica, Early Music Festival of Mataró, La Música del Museu, Els Orgues de Catalunya, the Early Music Festival of Barcelona, among others.
In recent seasons, she has sung lead roles in the operas The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute by Mozart, L’Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti, and in Catalan zarzuelas such as Cançó d’amor i de guerra, La Legió d’Honor, El Timbaler del Bruc, along with numerous oratorios: Stabat Mater by Pergolesi; Gloria and Magnificat by Vivaldi; Messiah by Händel; Harmonia Caelestis by Pal Esterházy; Requiem, Coronation Mass and Exultate Jubilate by Mozart; Mass in G Major by Schubert; Nelson Mass, Missa Sancti Joannis de Deo by Haydn; Requiem by Fauré; Carmina Burana by Carl Orff; and especially the Stabat Mater by the rediscovered Catalan composers Josep Pla (18th century) and Francesc Andreví (19th century), among other works.
Interested in early music, she regularly performs with specialized ensembles from across Europe and has complemented her training with studies in historical percussion and historical dance. She is a soloist and founder of the groups Stella Splendens and Alegransa (medieval music), Massada (Sephardic song), Arqueoescena (recreation of ancient Greek music), Alla Viola (Renaissance music), Trio Sekrets (soprano, flute, and organ), Ensemble All’Aura (Baroque music), and La Veu de Syrinx (a multidisciplinary project based on traditional Catalan and Occitan song). Notably, her recent Baroque recordings using historical performance criteria include Süsse Stille – Dolça calma and the recent CD Àries del barroc, released by the label La Mà de Guido.
She is also engaged in the recovery and performance of 19th- and 20th-century Catalan lied, and has recorded the CDs Avuimúsica 2000; Catalan and Occitan Folk Songs; Sardanes and Songs by Pau Sicart; Alió, Morera, Toldrà: from the Renaixença to Noucentisme; and Cançons de sempre.
